Are You Looking For Convenient Mental Healthcare That Works?
• Do you have a hectic and busy schedule that prevents you from committing to weekly therapy sessions?
• Have transportation issues compromised your ability to receive healthcare and other services?
• Or is there a mental or physical health condition that keeps you homebound?
You may be a busy parent or a working professional who can never seem to find enough time in the day. Between managing work obligations or the needs of your family, it might feel impossible to commit to therapy right now.
Alternatively, you may live in a remote part of California and find it inconvenient to travel long distances to see a therapist. Or perhaps you’re an active-duty member of the military who, due to frequent travel, duty assignments, and geographical constraints, finds it difficult to make consistent time for therapy.
Maybe a compromising health condition makes the prospect of in-person therapy feel anxiety-inducing or unsafe. We are still in the midst of the Covid-19 global health crisis after all, and it’s understandable that you don’t want to jeopardize your mental or physical health by attending in-person therapy sessions. Moreover, if you are someone who struggles with sensitive issues concerning your identity, you may be particularly invested in maintaining your anonymity during the therapy process.
Regardless of what you struggle with, issues of anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship conflict are not going to take your time or transportation constraints into consideration. Even if you can’t find the time in your schedule to seek mental health support, daily challenges are likely to persist and accumulate, worsening symptoms and making life feel progressively unmanageable over time.
For that reason, at bareWell, we offer online therapy services throughout the state of California so that you can receive accessible, comfortable, and effective care.
It’s Hard To Commit To Therapy On Top Of A Never-Ending List Of To-Do’s
Our lifestyles are increasingly and aggressively active. These days, it seems like every moment is accounted for in our busy schedules—and the idea of squeezing one more thing in only adds to the stress.
And as the Covid-19 pandemic allowed our lives to slow down just a little bit, millions of people around the world quickly realized the value of telehealth and remote technology. 2020 was an essential year when it came to normalizing the use of online therapy, and it has since led to a drastic shift in our understanding of the value of telehealth. As a result, we now widely accept online therapy as a convenient and effective treatment approach to a wide range of mental health concerns.
Whereas before, teletherapy created an isolating sense of being separated from the clinician, technology has improved in such a way that we can see and hear one another more effectively—both on a literal and figurative level. In addition, online therapy increases opportunities for deep connection within the client-therapist relationship, as clinicians get to see elements of the world from which their clients come, such as their surroundings, pets, and family members.
There are so many aspects of modern life that complicate the accessibility of in-person therapy. From the often-frustrating process of commuting to a lack of qualified therapists in rural settings to the simple fact that California is huge and heavily populated, finding effective local care can be difficult.
At bareWell, however, you can connect with a seasoned and empathetic therapist from the convenience of your home.
Online Therapy Makes Treatment More Convenient, Accessible, And Direct
When teletherapy first became available, many were skeptical about its effectiveness when compared to in-person therapy. But the National Center for Health Research has been collecting data for some time now that enthusiastically supports online therapy as a verified treatment model¹.
At bareWell, we approach the process of online therapy the same way we would for the clients we see in person. Whether you struggle with depression, anxiety, unresolved trauma, relationship issues, life transitions, or other mental health challenges, we will collaborate with you to create an individualized treatment plan for online therapy while still upholding the same ethical standards and guidelines that we would for in-person counseling.
The telehealth platforms we use—Google Meet and TherapyNotes (our Electronic Health Record)—are entirely HIPAA-compliant. All of our sessions are private, and as is the case with in-person sessions, we are not authorized to share any of your information without your permission.
Before our first session, we will provide you with logistical guidance and a list of things you can do to minimize your risk of being hacked or compromised in any way. This list includes tips on creating strong passwords, choosing private networks, and logging out after online therapy sessions.
From there, all you will need is a laptop, phone, or computer with microphone and video capabilities and stable internet access. All intake paperwork and scheduling will also be done electronically so that the process can be as streamlined as possible.
Your self-care journey does not have to be compromised or halted because of distance, logistical issues, or health concerns. Our clinicians have been offering online therapy services since well before it became a norm. We are comfortable with the process and know what to expect when meeting with clients online, which can help ease you into your therapy regimen.
At bareWell, we are committed to providing the best therapy for all of our clients—including the ones we see online.
Maybe you’re curious about virtual mental health counseling, but you still have questions…
Does online therapy work?
Even within the last few years, we have seen the field of psychology make tremendous strides when it comes to teletherapy. And we have witnessed firsthand our clients responding well and making great progress through telehealth sessions.
A lot of research has been done that supports the claim that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy². Moreover, making services accessible online has opened up the door to other opportunities for mental health support that might not be readily available in an office setting. Given these developments, paired with the stay-at-home nature of the Covid-19 pandemic, therapists are now expected to offer telehealth as an option. Though we love to see our clients in person, we recognize that online therapy is an important facet of the future of mental health, and it’s likely that the evidence in support of it will only increase.
Can I talk to one of your therapists online even if I’m out of state?
We are only authorized to see clients who reside in the state of California. There are, however, some exceptions. If you’re a resident but you’re traveling, we can provide care on a case-by-case basis depending on legalities. And if you are an active-duty member of the military, we are still able to provide teletherapy in some cases. Please contact us and let us know where you will be traveling so that we can provide you with more location-specific information.
Is online therapy covered by insurance?
If you have Tricare or TriWest, online therapy is covered by your insurance (though there is sometimes a small co-pay). Otherwise, we can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company.
If cost remains a concern, please note that we do offer online therapy services on a sliding scale.
