Therapy can help improve your relationship.
Do you frequently feel disconnected from your partner despite wanting closeness?
Have you tried to work things out but most attempts just end in another argument?
Are you feeling stuck in the same cycle?
At bareWell, we truly understand that relationships are work, probably the hardest work we will ever do in our lives. Couples therapy is an investment and a great way to enrich your relationship.
Intense or overwhelming emotions can be confusing, scary and painful and often impact our ability to be there for each other. Life struggles and daily stressors impact our relationships and it’s common for couples to create negative cycles that are painful and often lead to withdrawal, numbing or distance in the relationship. The repeated and painful cycles often erode the sense of security and safety in the relationship.
Connection and relationships are a part of our nature and without them we will experience loneliness, emptiness and in extreme cases “emotional starvation.” Early studies of childhood attachment have clearly shown that without healthy, secure attachments we fail to thrive and our overall health suffers. Despite the messages we receive about the importance of being “independent” we will always need connection and emotional security in our relationships. These needs do not change because we are older, they are just experienced and expressed differently. If you and your partner are stuck in negative cycles and get frustrated trying to work through it, couples therapy can help.

our approach:
Each of our therapist who offer couples counseling offers an individual approach centered around empathy, connection, and understanding. Several therapist on our staff are trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) Using EFCT theory as our guide, we focus on helping to reconnect you as a couple, to facilitate the creation of secure, lasting bonds (or reinforce any preexisting positive bonds), and build closeness and connection in your relationships. Couples with secure bonds who can share their feelings safely and who can learn to rely on each other are able to grow closer to one another when challenges arise.
We offer therapy for couples in San Diego and beyond. We serve couples from all backgrounds, including providing compassionate and non-judgmental services to the LGBTQ community.
